In today’s world, social and global standards of beauty dictate and influence the idea of beauty so strongly that we stop accepting ourselves as who we are.
The current pandemic has rendered us stressed, worried and anxious. Businesses are shutting down, healthcare prices are rocketing through the roof, and poverty has excruciatingly taken over the reins of the world. With everything that’s going on, you owe it to yourself to feel better. Unfortunately, people are coping with the stress using dangerous methods, which usually translate to stress-eating or stress-starving.
Naturally, this has adverse effects on your body, making you look weaker or larger than before. But why should we put labels on our body? Just to adjust to the world? That’s ridiculous! Don’t pull yourself down just because you don’t fit into the superficial standards of beauty set by society. In these challenging situations, you’re healing, and when you’re done, you can look “beautiful.” Your perception of beauty shouldn’t be defined by clear skin or the measurement of your waist.
Beauty is not about looks, it’s the warm feeling of kindness as you cope with life. You may have curvy hips, a big belly, thin hair, more acne and stretch marks, or even really dry skin, but none of this defines your beauty. Your beauty is determined by the soul inside you, your kindness, and the goodness in your heart. Your beauty is what is inside your heart: your warm demeanour and gentle approach. Don’t let anyone judge you based on their ideas of ideal beauty. You are perfect exactly the way you are.
