2020 was a wild year, but that didn’t waver the fashion industry off of its course!
The year commenced with the Tie Dye trend. From t-shirts to denims, and from sweatshirts to sweatpants- Tie-Dye covered everything, and this trend soared through the roof!
Pastel bucket hats and bags were the talks of the town too. Celebrities and influencers strolled around donning these accessories, debuting a dapper pre-covid look.
Come March, there was a big bang that occurred in the industry! We certainly were not prepared for what was to come. COVID-19 seized control over life as we knew it, and we were forced to move indoors for lockdown mode. Though life has come to a sudden halt, the fashion industry brushed it off and spun from formal wear to chic loungewear.
Sweatshirts and sweatpants became personal staples for people across the world, as did oversized t-shirts. They became the most comfortable resort for online school as well as sleeping. These soon transformed into “Zoom tops.” These were stylish tops only meant for online video calls and meetings, paired with comfy pairs of shorts or pants, making you look presentable and set for all online classes and events.
As the lockdown restrictions were eased gradually, we were allowed to step out with conditions, and that’s when trendy and fashionable masks came in! Printed masks, personalised masks, masks with chains, designer cloth masks, and even mask-helmets! They stole the show at events and completed a sophisticated, stylish look for an evening out with friends and family.
We ended the year with “Shackets,” another dazzling invention adored by millions. These Shirt-Jackets were loungy and comfortable with a trendy twist. With the temperatures in the winter dropping, everybody pulled out their winter fits, with oversized coats and cashmere sweaters among them, completing a perfect night in front of a fireplace as you cuddled with a book and a cup of hot cocoa.
The year was undoubtedly challenging, but the best part was the slowing-down of our fast-paced lives. In fact, the paradigm shift of formal-to-loungewear acts as a testimony to the idea that fashion certainly blends well with comfort. That being said, we look forward to the latest inventions that the year 2021 brings for us!
